I have been thinking a lot about books lately and I want to share my knowledge. I believe that reading books is one of the best methods to learn new stuff. And now you don’t even need to read them! Audiobooks, what an amazing “new” thing! This is where I admit that books did not interest me that much for the first 30 years of my life, luckily some things change. At first, I was also really skeptical about listening to books, mainly because I didn’t know how the whole thing worked. Then, after my girlfriend told me to try it out, I was hooked right away.

So, this year alone I have listened to about as many books as I did read before that, and so I figured that if I suddenly find them interesting and very helpful, why not share them here? From now on I’m going to share all the books that I find worth reading or listening to so you can have it easier to choose. I don’t want to “spoil” the books but I’m going to tell you some insights that helped me develop myself or some stories I really enjoyed. The first book I want to share with you is one I read and it was one of the longest in my life but definitely worth it!

Unlimited Power: The New Science Of Personal Achievement by Tony Robbins

For me, this book was a WOW. I started reading it without knowing anything about the author. And I definitely didn’t know it was written in 1986!

The book is quite long, 459 pages with a lot of information. It’s a self-help book and this is the book that put Tony Robbins on the map. Even now, after 33 years the information is amazingly accurate.

This book is one of the reasons why I still continue to do my own thing and why I still believe that one day it will all work out as I have imagined. The name of the book says it all, the new science of personal achievement, it explains how you can achieve anything you want and how to do it. There are a lot of practical tests and tasks you can do while reading this book and it will right away help you with where you want to go next.

First part

At the beginning of the book, he explains very detailedly how the human brain works and his theories on how to run your own brain. He uses phrases like this:
Ask yourself, “What would I attempt to do if I knew I could not fail?” and “How you feel is not the result of what is happening in your life—it is your interpretation of what is happening.”

There are also a lot of examples and stories about people he has helped and people who have succeeded against the odds. If there is a will, there is a way.

The second part of the book is more about how you can achieve the goals you want in life. If you don’t know your goals, this book helps you with that too. He even speaks about how the food you eat affects how you manage your life. He tells a lot of his own experiences and they give a good perspective on how he has managed to make his life great with the same methods he shares in this book. The one thing he points out the most in this book is that communication is key. The most important thing in life is to know how to communicate with other people and yourself. He says:

“The way we communicate with others and the way we communicate with ourselves ultimately determine the quality of our lives.”

Another important thing in this book is believing. You only need to believe in yourself and never quit, and you will get where you want to go. It’s all in your brain, don’t listen to others, just believe in yourself!

At the end of the book, he talks about five different things to learn that are key to being successful. I even wrote them on my phone so I will remember them because they sounded so logical. They are:

  • -Learn to handle frustration
  • -Learn to handle rejection
  • -How to handle financial pressure
  • -How to handle complacency (self-satisfaction)
  • -Give more than you expect to receive

That’s about it from me. I highly suggest this book for anyone, even if you don’t want to be successful. There is a lot of good information in it. Also, I would probably never have read this book if it wasn’t for my girlfriend who suddenly just bought the book out of pure intuition and that was how I got it. You never know what life brings you, or what’s on the next page, better just continue forward all the time and you will soon find out something new.
