BlackBox

This is a thing I want to share with you. If you are any kind of video person, this could be a really good thing for you.

Have you heard the saying that goes something like this:

“it’s the best feeling in the world when you earn money sleeping”

This is no joke, and the feeling is pretty damn good. The thing what I’m talking about is STOCK FOOTAGE. For those who don’t know what it is, it’s kind of a supermarket of video files. In other words, (professional) people shoot and upload footage to a server that they then put up for sale on various platforms online. This was something only some few lucky people did in the past until this one company called BlackBox stepped into the picture.

What is BlackBox?

BlackBox is an online community, a stock footage distributor and a very handy thing for people who wants to earn some passive income in future years. This company has made it very easy for the regular person to start shooting all kinds of footage and then upload it to their site, and here is the best thing, THEY share it to all the biggest stock agencies and all you need to do is wait for some money to come back to you. BlackBox takes care of all the paperwork and they pay the money directly to your PayPal account.

Okay so there is a lot of competition on in this field, but the market is also growing all the time. The requirements for the video files are that they should be 5-59 seconds in length and without audio. This means you can even shoot some video with your iPhone and upload it to their site and someone might want to buy it. There are two different categories in selling stock footage. The first one is Commercial, this is the biggest business where a lot of media agencies and content creators buy footage. The other one is Editorial, for non-commercial use. This kind of footage can be used in non-profit organizations, government or news stories. There is basically a demand for whatever you can come up with. The more original the better.

So how much can a single clip sell for? It’s around 20-100$ for a standard license and the most expensive sales have been up to 400$ for an extended license, but these are very rare. The most common clip that sells, according to BlackBox founder Pat McGowan, is 10-15 seconds and HD quality. It does not need to be high-quality HD!

There is definitely a learning curve when you first start out with it and you need to read a few technical guides on how the system works but in the end, it is a really simple system. BlackBox takes 15% of the NET price on all sales, and that’s it. No registration fees, no monthly payments. Unlimited uploads and the only requirement is that once you have uploaded and submitted a clip you cannot take it down before 18 months have passed. I don’t know why anyone would want to take any clips down because they are for sale all the time, and it’s free for you.

If you are interested in joining the BlackBox team you can do that by following the link below:

BlackBox Register

This is a referral link from me and I get a small bonus if you join through this link. I would not want to share this thing if I don’t believe in it myself. I regularly upload footage myself, even if I also make YouTube videos out of the same footage.

I highly suggest this for anyone with a little bit of camera skills and editing knowledge because this is what freedom looks like when talking about work!
